It is an architectural achievement
This tower was built by a French engineer, Alexandre Gustave Eiffel in 1849. Interestingly, the 1,063 feet tall tower took only two years, two months, and five days to complete hence it is regarded as an architectural and technical achievement.
It has attracted millions of visitors to Paris
Since the opening of its doors in 1889, this captivating tower has attracted over 250 million visitors to Paris. In the 21st century, Eiffel Tower attracts over 7 million visitors annually, 76% of whom are foreigners. This has made it the most visited paid-for monument in the world.
It is not a typical suicide ground
Although deaths are not common in this tower, they are not entirely unheard. Since its inception in 1889, only 349 successful suicides have been reported here. This is according to the Societe de la Tour Eiffel. Most of the deaths were from daredevils who tried to perform dangerous stunts, while some were from people who hanged themselves from the beam, or jumped from the highest level.
It was used as a communication interception center during the World War I
This mesmerizing tower has a wireless communication station which was used by the French military during the World War I to intercept enemy communications from Berlin, Germany. This enabled the French army to arrest, convict, and execute enemies quickly.
It was the tallest man made structure for 41 years
