About Batman

For most people, you either love Batman or you don’t. Batman is a superhero that pretty much everyone knows about. He has appeared in comic books published by DC dating back to March 1939 where he first appeared in the Detective Comics and was named Bat-Man. But Batman has several nicknames he goes by including the Dark Knight, the Caped Crusader, the Defender of Gotham and even the world’s greatest detective (though Sherlock Holmes might have something to say about that.)

If you’re a fan of Batman then it’s pretty likely that you already know his origin story. It’s something that every TV show and movie series love to revisit over and over again. When Bruce Wayne (Batman’s secret identity) witnessed the murder of his parents he vowed to spend the rest of his life taking criminals down. The movies and later comics go a bit deeper in the origin story by expanding on how Batman received his ninja-like training.

Bruce Wayne is a billionaire by day and the Dark Knight by night. He is obviously wealthy, but hyper intelligent and physically imposing. The driving factor behind Batman was the murder of his parents. He’s a vigilante who has trained both his body and mind to be the greatest detective in the world. When he interacts with other characters, he often acts very cold, disciplined and a bit detached. However, throughout the series, Batman has developed a few close relationships with the likes of Robin, Commissioner Gordon, Barbara Gordon, Albert and a few others. His loyalty is fierce and he is obviously very protective.

Batman often fights villains with superpowers, but because he has none of his own, he relies on technology to make up for it. His suit consists of a scallop-hemmed cape that is bullet proof and allows him to glide through the air, a cowl, bat-like ears that also act as antennae and an always useful utility belt. He uses his trusty Batmobile to get around most places but also relies on a grappling hook and even the Batwing when he needs to travel really far distances.
